Drinking a margarita is how The Hubby and I celebrate the start of  summer.  When we have time to sit by the pool and enjoy our backyard, a margarita  is our drink of choice. Our first drink of the year, this year, was a little disappointing.  The sour mix was not very good at all!  So I decided to make my own sweet and sour mix, because home made is always better and it has none of the additives and preservatives.  It was worth it and the drinks this year are better then ever!







Make a simple syrup with 1 Cup Sugar and 1 Cup water, simmer until sugar is melted. Let cool.






Measure 1 1/2 Cups freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice.  Equal parts of both lemon and limes.






Add the juice into the simple syrup.






Refrigerate until cool.  Enjoy in any drink that calls for sweet and sour mix.







*Recipe can be doubled and or tripled, then stored in refrigerator for 2-3 days.  Freeze in ice cube trays and keep for a month.  Add frozen sweet and sour cubes and the liqueur in the blender for an easy, quick margarita.
